Cub's Stasio Goes Distance To Get Win
Doug Stasio pitched
a complete game Sunday in blazing heat to pick up his 1st win of the season. He
struck out 7 and scattered 9 hits to hold the Big Red Machine's Offense at bay.
Offensively, the Cubs were led by Centerfielder Frankie Longello. Longello went
3-5 and scored 2 of the Cubs run. Thirdbaseman Travis Oliver was also 2-4 with
a 2B and 3RBI. The Cubs broke out in the 5th off Red's starter Duncan Bunch for
5 runs which proved to be enough to get the win. Shawn Bradley pitched well for
the Cubs in relief allowing no runs and striking out 10 in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.
