Pirates improve to 2-1 with a with a big win over the A's Sunday. Thad Rowland (1-0) throws seven shutout innings and records 7 K's. Kevin Vogel came in to preserve the shutout by pitching the final two innings and earned his first save of the season. Offensively, Eric Heath crushed his 2nd home run of the season to give Roland and the Pirates all the run support they needed. Chris Terry, Thad Rowland and Dave Maningding had two hits each.
