Orioles' Johnson Throws Gem - Blanks Cubs 7-0
The Orioles' Jason Johnson threw 6 innings of 2 hit baseball to blank the Cubs 7-0 in Thursday night's rain-shortened affair. Johnson went 6 innings, striking out 8 to pick up his and the Orioles' first win of the season. Jason Hazel started for the Cubs and looked strong in the first but lost control in the second giving up 6 runs on 2 hits and 5 walks. Ralph Nolen, Jr. came on in relief and pitched 5 solid innings in his CMABL debut allowing only one run on one hit while striking out 9.
